A members-for-members concert that ran like clockwork

On Sunday afternoon 21 September, the annual members-for-members concert took place at the - again packed - venue in The Hague. Eight advanced amateur singers from the Hague region and beyond performed in a very varied programme.

Introducing: Valerie Haunz and Sofi Simeonidis

In January, soprano Valerie Haunz and pianist Sofi Simeonidis were one of four song duos admitted after auditioning. Sofi is no stranger, as she also forms a duo with Julia Kurig Yazaki. What did they find together? Valerie: ‘In Sofi, I have found someone with whom I feel such a close personal and musical bond, that it is pure pleasure to bring the stories to life together.’

In memoriam Fred Jacobs

On 28 August, the night before the opening of the Early Music Festival in Utrecht, world-renowned lutenist Fred Jacobs died. In 1986, the Locke Consort, co-founded by him, won the first early music competition in the Netherlands during this festival.

In Heaven

Francine van der Heijden spoke to Olivia Vermeulen about the new programme ‘In Heaven’ she put together with Jan Philip Schulze, the creative process behind a song recital, as well as extracting some advice for young singers and pianists.

New duos through to IVC finals

A little applause in advance for two of our new duos! Because soprano Madeline Saputra & pianist Apollon Kalamenios and baritone Jared Michaud & pianist Christina Koti may win the audience for the song at the final of the International Vocal Competition in September.
