In addition to her musical partnership with pianist Maurice Lammerts van Bueren, Farahani has chosen to invite cellist Ella van Poucke. ‘Sometimes the reason for a concert programme is very simple,’ says soprano Lilian Farahani, ‘love of music’. My Favorite Things is a collection of pieces that touch her deeply, that make her heart beat faster, and with which she has a personal connection. No overarching theme, no hidden message, no attempt to shock or teach. ‘Just music that I love to sing or love the most.’
