Vijf jaar lang zette Teuny van Wijgerden zich als secretaris met hart en ziel in voor Vrienden van het Lied. Ondanks dat haar gezondheid haar steeds meer parten speelde bleef ze monter en enthousiast. Na haar aftreden werd ze benoemd tot erelid. Om Teuny en haar liefde voor de liedkunst blijvend in herinnering te houden hebben de erven besloten ons jaarlijks met een donatie van € 2.000 te steunen. Om die te beheren is het Liedfonds Teuny van Wijgerden opgericht.
This fund, established in late 2024, aims to stimulate interest in the art of song among young, talented musicians and contribute to their development in performance. The support of this fund makes it possible to strengthen the financial basis under the provision of workshops, master classes and auditions, and to provide young talent with a concert platform.
Met de oprichting van het Liedfonds Teuny van Wijgerden heeft de vereniging een nieuwe prijs in het leven geroepen: de Vrienden van het Lied Prijs en de Dag van het Lied Prijs. In maart 2025 werd de prijs voor het eerst uitgereikt.
The Friends of the Song Prize wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door een samenwerking tussen Vrienden van het Lied en Podium 1919 en bestaat uit een prijswinnaarsoptreden bij Podium 1919.
The Dag van het Lied Prijs bestaat uit een jaar gratis lidmaatschap van de vereniging en toegang tot de Dag van het Lied. Deze prijs is speciaal bedoeld voor jonge liedduo’s. Door hen in de gelegenheid te stellen concerten te bezoeken kunnen zij hun kennis van het liedrepertoire verder uitbreiden en verdiepen.
Vrienden van het Lied also wants to reach and support young, professional musicians in their development. And what better place for them to gain stage experience than in the intimacy of a house concert? The direct contact with the organisers and the audience gives them the opportunity to refine their performances and bring the stories they want to tell even better into the limelight. To make that possible, the song fund offers financial support by presenting the Friends of the Song Incentive Award to the best Dutch duo participating in the biennial International Student SongDuo Competition. During the 2024 competition, this prize was awarded to mezzo-soprano Jasperina Verheij and pianist Willem van den Dool, who thus had the opportunity to present themselves to the public with two song recitals for Vrienden van het Lied.
