The idea of Supporting … that is a professional singer teaching six amateur singers during a one-day masterclass. If they participate with their own pianist, the latter is coached by a professional pianist; for singers who register without a pianist, the professional pianist acts as accompanist. Two or three lieders are worked on during the day, and for the concert each singer/duo chooses one lied in consultation with the tutors to perform prior to the tutors' recital. This year, the tutors/performers are Jan-Willem Schaafsma (tenor) and Phyllis Ferwerda (piano). On Sunday afternoon, 25 October, following the short supporting programme, they will perform part of their programme Was weiss ich davon?, with works by Strauss, Duparc and the cycle lied Dichterliebe by Schumann.
The masterclass will be held at the familiar location on the Groot Hertoginnelaan. For the concert, the HaagsPianoHuis has been booked, right next to Noordeinde Palace.
