Anna Alvizou

Greek pianist Anna Alvizou specialised in the song genre. In 2022, she received the special prize for 'best song pianist' at the international Triomphe de l'Art competition in Brussels. She forms a song duo with soprano Jessica Harper.

Greek pianist Anna Alvizou specialised in the song genre and devoted much of her artistic career to this field. Her talent was recognised in 2022 when she received the special prize for the ‘best song pianist’ at the international Triomphe de l'Art competition in Brussels, in the Lied duo category. In 2023, Anna, together with soprano Jessica Harper participated in the Young Artist Platform of International Lied Festival Zeist in the Netherlands. There, they received an award for the best performance of the compulsory work Sensation by composer Martin Fondse. Their success grew in 2024 when Anna and Jessica won second prize at the 2nd International Lied Competition Bolko von Hochberg in Görlitz, Germany. In January 2025, after a successful audition, they were admitted to Friends of Song.

Throughout her career, Anna has collaborated with several renowned singers, including Kartal Karagedik, Katharine Dain, Coline Dutilleul, Caroline Jestaedt and Jessica Harper. She has also participated in master classes of internationally renowned artists such as Elly Ameling, Roderick Williams, Robert Holl, Malcolm Martineau, Joseph Middleton, Maciej Pikulski, Hans Eijsackers, Iain Burnside and Hideyo Harada. Anna obtained a bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Ionian University in Greece, where she studied with Lambis Vassiliadis. She then completed both a master in Piano Performance and a master in Liedgestaltung at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen in Germany, under the guidance of Peter Nelson. She continued her studies with pianists Aaron Wajnberg and Jeanne-Minette Cilliers at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she also worked as correpetitor in the classical singing department.

In 2024, Anna was selected to participate in the International Cavafy Summer School of the Onassis Foundation in Athens. During this summer school, she gave a presentation on the art songs of composers Maria Kalogridou and Dimitri Mitropoulos, set to the poetry of C.P. Cavafy. Anna also worked with the research group LABO XIX-XX at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she further expanded her expertise in music and performance.
