‘What makes man?

In November last year, mezzo-soprano Jasperina Verheij and pianist Willem van de Dool won the Friends of the Song -stimulus award during the International Student LiedDuo Competition in Groningen. During this recital, they will let you hear how music has for centuries sought to answer the question: What makes us human? Because in a time when we increasingly reflect on our impact in the world and the rise of life-like technologies, this is a topical theme. They will let you enjoy deeply felt compositions by Schumann and Brahms, to poignant contemporary compositions. But this concert is more than just a listening experience. What does it mean to you to be human? Your answer can be part of the music - perhaps your thought will even be brought to sound in a unique improvisation at the end of the concert.
