What makes human beings?

In November last year, mezzo-soprano Jasperina Verheij and pianist Willem van de Dool won the Friends of the Song incentive prize during the International Student LiedDuo Competition in Groningen. During this recital, they will let you hear how music has for centuries sought to answer the question: What makes us human? Because in a time when we increasingly reflect on our impact in the world and the rise of life-like technologies, this is a topical theme. They will let you enjoy deeply felt compositions by Schumann and Brahms, to poignant contemporary compositions. But this concert is more than just a listening experience. What does it mean to you to be human? Your answer can be part of the music - perhaps your thought will even be brought to sound in a unique improvisation at the end of the concert.
