Hanneke de Wit

Hanneke de Wit completed her studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague cum laude and performed several opera roles. She also studied German Language and Literature, the combination of which led to many concerts with German composers, poems and subjects.

Hanneke de Wit studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and continued her studies at The New Opera Academy. In 2003, she completed this study cum laude with distinction for musicality.

After graduating, Hanneke de Wit performed several roles in operas by Gluck and Mozart. At the 2008 Grachtenfestival, she sang the lead role in the opera Der Vampyr by Marschner. In 2009, she sang with the Reisopera the roles of Grande Pretresse in Rameaus Hippolyte et Aricie directed by Jed Wentz and Woglinde in the successful production of Wagner's Rheingold directed by Ed Spanjaard. She returned in this role for the Götterdämmerung in 2012.

In 2007, Hanneke de Wit made her debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Bruckner's Third Mass in f minor conducted by Philippe Herreweghe. Last year she toured with the Requiem by Mozart (Brabant Orchestra conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend) and with Die Schöpfung by Haydn (Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century conducted by Frans Brüggen). She also sang with Brüggen in the Saturday Matinee in 2009 in Haydn's Nelson Mass. Earlier, she sang Bach's Magnificat in the Matinee, conducted by Peter Dijkstra.

In 2008, she gave a song recital in the Concertgebouw's Young Dutchmen series, accompanied by German pianist Alexander Schmalcz. In 2009, they recorded songs by Richard Strauss together on CD. In 2004, Hanneke de Wit won the prestigious Cristina Deutekom Opera Concours. At the International Vocal Competition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2006, she was awarded the Caroline Kaart Prize for the best Dutch singer. In 2011, Hanneke sang the soprano part from the St John Passion in director Dale Duesing's staged production at the Reisopera.

She also studied German Language and Literature at Leiden University. The combination with these studies led to many concerts with German composers, poems and subjects. Hanneke de Wit has been accompanied by Margreet Honig in recent years.

This programme with Eildert Beeftink at the piano features four great song composers from the second half of the 19th century. Romanticism reigns supreme and from beginning to end, the drama gets stronger and stronger. Before the interval, works by Fauré and Brahms including well-known songs such as Les Berceaux, Clair de Lune, Mainacht and Feldeinsamkeit. After the interval, four songs by Duparc including the much-loved L'invitation au voyage and some five works by Tchaikovsky.

Together with Reinild Mees, Hanneke de Wit performs a varied programme. Before the interval, you will hear well-known compositions by Mendelssohn, Schubert and songs by Henk Nieland on texts by Vasalis. After the interval, the programme will feature Fauré and a selection from opus 10 by Richard Strauss.
