With great enthusiasm, humour and a massive dose of expertise, Phyllis and Jan-Willem coached six advanced amateur singers and four pianists that day in liederen of works by Brahms, Schubert, Debussy, Poulenc and Ethel Smyth, among others. The teachers' sharp instructions were immediately taken on board by the participants, and you could hear them grow.

Phyllis and Jan-Willem were impressed by the standard of the students and their willingness to be vulnerable; the participants and audience in turn were full of praise for the teachers. It was a day of hard work, but the joy of making music just radiated from it.
