After studying piano (Jelena Bazova) and organ (Ad van Sleeuwen) at the Tilburg Conservatoire, Mark van Nispen immersed himself in song accompaniment at Rudolf Jansen and Meinard Kraak. He took further lessons and master classes with Ed Spanjaard, Ronald Brautigam, Roger Braun and Kathryn Stott, among others.
As pianist/song accompanist, he has performed at venues including the Grachtenfestival, Liedfestival Vocallis and Radio4, and in venues such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and De Doelen in Rotterdam. In the 2019-2020 season, he can be heard in song recitals with bass-baritone Alexander de Jong, soprano Maartje Rammeloo and mezzo-soprano Merlijn Runia, and in the poetic solo programme Fêtes Galantes based on Paul Verlaine's poetry collection of the same name.
As a rehearser/coach, Mark has worked at Opera Spanga since 2013, where he collaborated on the Verdi trilogy, among others Macbeth(2016), La Traviata(2017) and Aida (2018). He also works freelance with companies such as Het Groot Omroepkoor, Vocaal Talent Nederland, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Zuid and De Nederlandse Opera (Opera Forward Festival).
In Saint-Julien-le-Petit (Haute-Vienne), France, he recently founded Studio Artigeas. A workshop for song and opera, where in October 2019, in collaboration with director Corina van Eijk (Opera Spanga), the first opera workshop took place.
At the audition in October 2019, Mark van Nispen was admitted to the Friends of Song's soloist list along with soprano Maartje Rammeloo.
