While studying in Tokyo, Naomi Tamura drew attention to herself through her fascination with European musical culture. She met Willem Brons, piano teacher at the Amsterdam Conservatory and performing musician, who persuaded her to come to the Netherlands in 1994. She completed her conservatory training in Amsterdam.
She regularly performs as a soloist, interpreting the Romantic composers with fondness. She also gives recitals with opera singer Dana Ilia, with mezzo-soprano Helena van Heel, with jazz saxophonist Delbert Bernabela and with flutist Machiko Takahashi.
She also teaches piano in her teaching practice to promising students whom she may or may not be training for the conservatory.
