Sofi Simeonidis

Sofi Simeonidis studied piano, song interpretation and accompaniment in Tbilisi, Detmold and Cologne. She attended numerous master classes, winning numerous prizes and scholarships. Her passion for music and literature led her to singing and poetry, from classical to contemporary. She forms a duo with Julia Kurig.

biography

Sofi Simeonidis was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. She began her musical education at the Zakaria Paliashvili Music School, the ‘Ten-Year School for the Gifted’ for piano, song composition and chamber music. At the age of seven, she performed with the symphony orchestra in her hometown.

From 2008 to 2012, she studied piano, song interpretation, accompaniment and chamber music with Svetlana Korsantia, Zira Kamushadze, Nana Leselidze at the Vano Sarajishvili State Conservatory in Tbilisi and solo piano with Nino Tchirakadze, Revaz Tavadze from 2012 to 2014.

In 2017, she continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Jacob Leuschner and Manuel Lange. From 2021 to 2023, she studied song interpretation at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Ulrich Eisenlohr. Since 2023, she has been studying there for the concert exam in song interpretation.

In numerous master classes, she received musical impulses and inspiration for her musical career from the likes of Sophie Koch, Paul Badura-Skoda, Eliso Virsaladze, Alexander Toradze, Moritz Eggert, Jan Philip Schulze, Anne Le Bozec, Paulina Tukianen, Peter Nelson, Burkhard Kehring, Alfredo Perl, Alexander Korsantia, Ilja Scheps, Georg Friedrich Schenck, Paolo Giacometti.

Sofi Simeonidis has won numerous piano, song and chamber music competitions and is a scholarship holder of the Wagner, Elisabeth Leonskaya, Alexandre Toradze and György Cziffra Foundations. She has performed at several festivals, including the Steingraeber und Söhne Piano Festival in Bayreuth, the Humperdinck Festtage in Siegburg, the Telavi International Music Festival in Georgia, the Youth Classics Festival in Switzerland and Germany, and in France as part of the György Cziffra Festival.

Her passion for music and literature led her to singing and poetry. Besides classical and romantic works, she is especially enthusiastic about contemporary singing repertoire.
