Very much deserved! because this beautifully matched duo performed an impressive theatrical programme. With her beautiful voice, Madeline managed to sing both Keroncong - traditional, Indonesian folk music - and Western music with equal ease and conviction. The alternating accompaniment by Apollon on violin and piano or her own playing on the ukulele added extra colour to the whole.
In doing so, they won the Staetshuys Fund Prize - the second prize - the Press Prize and the Friends of the Song Prize.
You can enjoy this captivating duo at the next Day of the Song in Zeist and on Wednesday 22 October in the atmospheric St Agnes Chapel >
