Wouter Munsterman

Wouter Munsterman has a great love of song and focused on chamber music and accompanying singers during and after his studies. Since 2007, he has been a repetiteur at the vocal department of ArtEZ Conservatoire in Zwolle.

biography

Munsterman studied at ArtEZ with Fred Oldenburg and then specialised as a song accompanist at the Messiaen Academy with Marien van Nieukerken and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Invitations soon followed from the likes of De Nationale Reisopera, Dorset Opera, the Orchestra of the East and Het Gelders Orkest, where he worked as a rehearser and accompanist in productions such as Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and Don Giovanni by Mozart conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend, Die Entführung aus dem Serail of Mozart and Les Pêcheurs de Perles by Bizet conducted by Jeremey Carnall and Sweeney Todd by Steven Sondheim conducted by Jeroen Sleyfer.

He also has a great fascination for the (written) word and was city poet of Hengelo in 2023-24. His first collection of poems ‘Hengelo in pieces’ was published last year. He regularly performs on literary stages where he likes to combine his poetry and piano playing. Perhaps you will hear something by him during a Friends of the Song recital.

Munsterman is regularly invited by the Valerius Ensemble, with which he has performed programmes of works by Mozart, Beethoven, Glinka and Poulenc. For many years he has formed a duo with soprano Claudia Patacca and also worked with singers such as Johannette Zomer.

Together with Claudia Patacca, he also gives workshops/master classes.
