Claudia Couwenbergh-soprano

biography

Soprano Claudia Couwenbergh studied at the Maastricht Academy of Music with Ingrid Kappelle and Barbara Schlick until 2001, and from 1997 she participated in the opera class. She is currently coached by vocal pedagogue Gemma Visser. She attended several master classes and sang in several operas. She also sang solo with, among others, the Barockorchester Larpa festante (Munich), the Kölner Barockorchester, Kölner Kammerorchester, Florilegium Musicum, Beethoven Orchester and the Limburg Symphony Orchestra.

Besides opera and concert repertoire, Claudia Couwenbergh has a great love for song. This led, among other things, to a concert in J.S. Bach's birthplace in Eisenach and she had the honour of presenting a song programme for Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands in 2004.

A recording of J.S. Bach's St Matthew Passion with the Kölner Kammerorchester conducted by H. Müller-Brühl was released for Naxos in spring 2006.

Claudia forms a duo with pianist Robert Weirauch.
