programme

Eline Welle, mezzo-soprano
Laurens de Man, piano

‘Wir gehen mit Lust durch einen grünen Garten.’ For centuries, the garden has inspired artists: stylised nature, tamed primal forces, a place where nature and civilisation meet. In this song programme, Viennese and Parisian master composers depict the garden as the scene of blooming flowers, fading love, singing birds, rippling ponds and impressive fountains. The sun shines there, but the night offers peace, and above all: ‘Blumen die Menschen, nur Blumen’ (Kurtág).

Depending on the date, this programme can also be performed with pianists Charlie Bo Meijering or Jeroen Sarphati.
