biography

Elizabeth Ford's life has been immersed in music. Daughter of a piano-playing mother and father who could still sing a high tenor C at 80, she started playing songs on the piano herself as a toddler.

She studied piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Alan Schiller and completed an undergraduate degree in music at the University of Liverpool, specialising in piano and electroacoustic composition. From her student days, she accompanied many singers and instrumentalists. She has also participated in competitions and master classes in song, given by Roger Vignoles, Benjamin Luxon and Roger Braun, among others.

In 1999, she moved to the Netherlands, where she can often be seen on stage with vocal trio Noblesse Oblige, among others. She is also a regular accompanist and coach of young musicians at Fluxus Zaanstad.

Since 2002, Elizabeth has had a permanent contract at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam and works intensively with the National Ballet Academy every week as pianist for dance classes, presentations and graduation projects.

Elizabeth plays along with baritone Matthijs Mesdag and soprano Caroline Tribe on the CD released in 2022 The Flowing Tide & The Winter Poet featuring songs set to poems by M. Vasalis and Fred Portegies Zwart, set to music by Julia Barnes.
