Fleur Strijbos

Fleur Strijbos is a Belgian soprano who trained with Anne Cambier at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and with Barbara Bonney at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. Fleur completed her master recital in Antwerp and achieved the highest distinction. Her studies were made possible thanks to the support she received from the Mitialto Foundation, Stichting Robus and vzw SWUK Vlaanderen.

Fleur's deep-rooted passion lies in ‘Liedkunst’, since she took the ‘Lied-klas’ under the direction of Lucienne Van Deyck and Jozef De Beenhouwer. In 2022, she started her collaboration with pianist Babette Craens to form a Song Duo known as “Duo Fleur Strijbos & Babette Craens”. They were selected for the ‘Udo Reinemann Masterclasses 2022-2023’ and reached the semi-finals of ‘Supernova 2024’ - a competition for young chamber music ensembles run by Klara. Since 2024, they have been part of ‘Friends of the Song’.

During her time at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Fleur had the opportunity to perform roles such as ‘Susanna’ in W.A. Mozart's “Le Nozze di Figaro”, ‘Miss Wordsworth’ in B. Britten's “Albert Herring” and ‘Amore’ in C. Gluck's “Orfeo ed Euridice”. She enjoyed the accompaniment of opera experts, including Guy Joosten, Sabrina Avantario, Jeanne-Minette Cilliers and Benoît De Leersnyder.
In 2024, Fleur was selected as one of ‘De Twintigers’ by Klara, a radio programme that focuses on promising young Belgian musicians. Besides this recent recognition, Fleur has already achieved notable achievements, including winning second prize with the highest distinction at the ‘Lions Club National Music Competition for Singers 2022’ in Belgium and third prize at the ‘Mâcon Symphonies d'automne - Concours de chant 2023’ in France. She has also been selected as a ‘Young Talent’ at leading Belgian festivals, including ‘Liedfest Antwerpen’ in 2020, ‘Gent Festival van Vlaanderen’ in 2021 and ‘Young Masters- Middagconcerten Antwerpen vzw’ in 2022. In 2021, she participated in the ‘Puccini Festival Academy’, where she learned from renowned mentors, leading to her performance of ‘Ancella di Turandot I’ in “Turandot” and concerts at the ‘Puccini Festival 2021’ in Italy. Fleur was Artist in Residence at SWUK Vlaanderen vzw for the years 2022 and 2023.

She had the opportunity to take master classes with renowned artists such as Malcolm Martineau, Christiane Karg, Gaiva Banzinaite, Josef Wallnig, Renata Scotto, Cesare Scarton, Joseph Middleton, Clarry Bartha, Massimo Iannone, Aaron Wajnberg and others.

Since October 2023, Fleur has been an Artist in Residence with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
