Hans Pieter Herman began his studies at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam with Cora Canne Meijer, where he received his Teaching Musician in Voice diploma. Funded by the Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten and the Prins Bernhard Fonds, he was able to continue his studies at Northwestern University in the US where he obtained his diploma Performing Musician in Opera, with distinction.
Part of his opera repertoire includes La Bohème, The Mikado, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte and Les mamelles de Tirésias. On the concert stage, he sang several oratorios, works by Gustav Mahler with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Hartmut Haenchen and many song recitals lauded by the Dutch press.
He works as 1st bass with the choir of Nationale Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam and regularly performs in New York with successful cabaret shows focusing on the repertoire of the American Songbook.
He has worked with Dame Joan Sutherland, Richard Bonynge, Galina Vishnevskaya, Christoph Eschenbach, Christoph von Dohnányi, James Levine, Peter Schreier, Roger Vignoles, Daniel Wayenberg and Benjamin Luxon, among others.

Théo Fabrice à New York is a programme inspired by the eponymous character from the novel Eline Vere by Louis Couperus, with music from the Belle Epoque by Chaminade, Rachmaninov, Mahler, Grieg and Stenhammar, among others.

The programme A late Romance (with tomato, ham and cheese) is so new that the table is not yet set. Hans Pieter Herman and Bas Verheijden will therefore keep you in suspense for a while about what exactly they will serve you. The menu will include works by Korngold, Pfitzner, Weill, Stenhammar and, of course, Tosti.
