Leon van Liere

As an oratorio singer, Leon van Liere performed solos in several passions and sang various roles in operas. He gave song recitals with a number of pianists.

biography

Leon van Liere studied classical singing with Frans Huijts at Rotterdam Conservatoire, after which he continued his training with Raymond Modesti. He is currently coached by Brian Masuda and receives lessons from Rudolf Piernay.

As an oratorio singer, he performed solos in Bach's Passions and works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Verdi and Dvorak, among others. In the field of opera, Leon sang various roles in works by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi, among others. He has been a guest soloist at the NTR ZaterdagMatinee several times and will make his appearance there again in 2019.

During his studies, he organised concerts with mezzo-soprano Suzanne Verburg and pianist Jan-Willem Passchier, in which they sang songs and duets by Purcell, Quilter, Schumann, Strauss and others. With Korean pianist Lin Kwon, he performed lunch concerts and took master classes with Rudolf Piernay and Rudolf Jansen. In 2014, he performed songs from and about Russia, accompanied by Wijnand van Klaveren, who also arranged these songs. In 2018, he was admitted to Friends of the Song.
