De afgelopen maanden zijn er 3 bijzondere programma’s aan ons aanbod toegevoegd door drie nieuwe duo’s die we graag onder uw aandacht brengen.
Concertzender Actueel: Dag van het Lied
Luister op woensdag 13 mei 2026 om 14.00 uur naar het programma Concertzender Actueel, waarin u een voorproefje krijgt van wat u op zaterdag 16 mei tijdens de Dag van het Lied in Zeist kunt verwachten.
Algemene ledenvergadering 18 april 2026
Met een opkomst van 30 leden was de ALV van 2026 een stuk beter bezocht dan vorig jaar. Er heerste een goede en ontspannen sfeer, waar het zonnige weer zeker aan bijdroeg. Naast de behandeling en goedkeuring van de gebruikelijke stukken werd er afscheid genomen van voorzitter Leo Samama, penningmeester Bram de Ronde en bestuurslid Hanneke Taat.
Zingend tussen de koeien
Tijdens het middagrecital van de Dag van het Lied nemen sopraan Kelly Poukens en pianiste Marie François je mee in een intiem recital dat voelt als een wandeling door een levend bloemenboeket, vol troost, liefde en verstilling.
Stéphane Degout & Simon Lepper
De Franse bariton Stéphane Degout is een ster in het repertoire uit zijn geboorteland, en dat laat hij vandaag horen in de Kleine Zaal. Een instinctief gebruik van kleur en dynamiek kenmerkt zijn uitvoeringen, Simon Lepper buigt daarin organisch met hem mee. Op het programma staat muziek van Franse legendes als Debussy en Ravel naast werk van minder bekende Franse componisten als Rita Strohl en Joseph Guy Ropartz.
From Schumann to Chausson
Twee hartsvriendinnen en mooie muziek, dat is ‘ECHOES’. De zangeressen Katharina Konradi en Catriona Morison nemen een bonte verzameling romantische liederen mee naar de Kleine Zaal. Schumann en Brahms, muzikale maatjes in negentiende eeuw, openen het bal. Vriendschap is geen garantie voor vocale chemie, maar bij Konradi en Morison zit dat wel snor.
Op zoek naar het lied buiten Europa
Tijdens de Dag van het Lied brengen Henriette Feith en Maurice Lammerts van Bueren een internationaal programma: ‘Het programma kijkt geografisch buiten Europa, maar blijft geworteld in de klassieke liedtraditie. Het is geen wereldmuziek, maar kunstlied in een bredere context’, vertelt Henriette.
Een sprookje in de regio Rotterdam
Op 29 maart organiseerde de afdeling Rotterdam in samenwerking met het Van Cappellenhuis een familievoorstelling: Haugtussa. Karolina Hartman en Maurice Lammerts van Bueren voerden de beroemde liedcyclus van Edvard Grieg uit, tegen de achtergrond van betoverende animaties, gemaakt door Annelieke Lammerts van Bueren. Het verhaal van Haugtussa werd daarbij levendig verteld door Maartje Stokkers. Leuk voor jong én oud.
LiedLab: Nieuwe wegen
Inmiddels is het een vast onderdeel van onze Dag van het Lied: LiedLab. Tijdens de theatrale, vocale serie krijgen studenten de vrije hand in het vormgeven van een kort recital. Het is elk jaar weer een verrassing wat het publiek te zien en te horen krijgt. Riekje Bakker-Bloembergen – contactpersoon regio Groningen – sprak met bariton Michiel Nonhebel, een van de uitvoerenden: ‘ Het lied is tijdloos en alle vormen mogen en zullen naast elkaar bestaan.’
Nun, ihr Musen, genug!
Acht sopranen, twee alten, vier tenoren en twee bassen, samen met drie pianisten van Codarts Rotterdam, zijn druk in de weer om een uitdagend presentatieconcert voor te bereiden voor de Dag van het Lied in Zeist op 16 mei.
Door muziek komen verhalen binnen
Het klassieke lied en hedendaagse, populaire muziek hebben meer met elkaar gemeen dan in eerste instantie gedacht. Francine van der Heijden sprak daar eerder al over met singer-songwriter Lucky Fonz III. Dit keer een interview met zangeres en taalkunstenaar Nynke Laverman. Met haar levenspartner, componist en muzikant Sytze Pruiksma, maakt Nynke al meer dan twintig jaar avontuurlijke, sferische muziek met poëtische en inhoudelijk rijke teksten: ‘Ik voel mij een verhalenverteller. Ik zou de muziek niet kunnen missen voor mijn verhaal.’
Een recital om verliefd op te worden
Zondag 8 maart vond in Den Haag de première plaats van het nieuwste programma van bariton Hans Pieter Herman en pianist Bas Verheijden. Na hun programma rond Théo Fabrice, met liederen uit het fin de siècle, richtten zij dit keer hun aandacht op composities uit de eerste decennia van de 20e eeuw.
De taal bepaalt
Francine van der Heijden sprak met Jan Willem Nelleke over het componeren van liederen: ‘Als ik componeer streef ik naar een eenheid tussen taal en muziek.’ Tijdens de Dag van het Lied is hij te gast in College Tour waar hij daarover in gesprek gaat met Leo Samama.
‘Verschwiegene Lieder’ op Schiermonnikoog
In aanloop naar de dodenherdenking op maandag 4 mei kunt u luisteren bariton Robbert Muuse en pianiste Micha van Weers. Zij laten hun veelgeprezen en indrukwekkende recital ‘Verschwiegene Lieder’ horen, met schitterend liedrepertoire van vervolgde en in de holocaust omgekomen joodse componisten. Typerend voor de eerste helft van de 20ste eeuw bevat het programma een prachtige mengeling van stijlen die voortkomen uit de late romantiek.
General membership meeting 18 April
The general members' meeting (ALV) will take place on Saturday 18 April from 11am to 1pm at Zalencentrum De Brug in Bunnik. After the meeting, attendees will be offered a sumptuous lunch, during which liaison officers, board members, committee members and other concerned members can interact informally.
From Shakespeare to Johann Strauss
It was full house at the welcoming venue in Houten, where soprano Elenora Hu and pianist Amy Chang gave a recital for the Utrecht section. Members from other regions had also come to this recital, observed Dinant Krouwel. It is a pleasant luxury that members can attend all department concerts for free.
Two new programmes
In recent months, two more special programmes have been added to our offerings that we would like to bring to your attention.
A successful charm offensive
Baritone Jared Michaud and pianist Christina Koti are a truly international duo. With their American, Canadian, English and Greek roots, the duo stepped into Nijmegen's living room from Paris on 1 February for the first of four planned performances of ‘An American in Paris’; A recital through which Jared and Christina sketch the atmosphere of Paris in the first half of the 20th century.
Schubert feels closer to Bob Dylan than to Wagner.
‘If you like singer-songwriters, visit a lied recital’ is what Lucky Fonz III would most like to convey to his audience. To board member Francine van der Heijden, he explained why classic lied and the compositions of contemporary singer-songwriters are not so far apart at all.
L'affaire Dreyfus in The Hague
On Sunday, February 1, an adventurous recital sounded in The Hague: soprano Ellen Valkenburg and pianist Maurice Lammerts van Bueren took the audience into a piece of history around 1900 in ‘L'affaire Dreyfus’, as a capstone for some of the most beautiful liederen from that era.
Audition 2026: impressive stories and performances
When you take a seat and someone raises a lied by Schubert, you know you are among friends. So it went at the audition day in Zwolle, which turned into a wonderful Vrienden van het Lied gathering. The jury faced the difficult task of making a selection, but after careful consideration, three duos were admitted to the list of musicians.
Introducing: Ien Bouwmans and Mieke van Huijgevoort
Ien Bouwmans and Mieke van Huijgevoort have taken the initiative to start providing concerts together for the Den Bosch region. Ien will offer her house in Rosmalen and grand piano (Sauter) for Vrienden van het Lied concerts; Mieke will be contact person for Vrienden van het Lied members and other interested parties in Brabant.
‘Auch kleine Dinge’ must be experienced!
What great soloists and accompanists we have at our association! This was demonstrated once again on Sunday 30 November at our house concert in Teteringen. We welcomed soprano Ellen Valkenburg, baritone Florian Just, and Maurice Lammerts van Bueren at the grand piano.
A concert with obstacles

Heartwarming members-for-members Christmas concert Rotterdam
Half the Netherlands sang at the members-for-members Christmas concert in Rotterdam on 14 December: from Utrecht and Woerden to Veldhoven, from Dordrecht and Den Bosch to Delft, singers and pianists came to Salon 1919.

Breathtaking love in The Hague
A recital about love in all its facets, the programme notes of ‘I'm a stranger here myself’ promised. Soprano Claudia Patacca and pianist Wouter Munsterman more than fulfilled that promise on 9 November in The Hague. For me, at least, it was love at first sight.
New programme: Amor, Sol, Saudade - South Song
After their first programme ‘And then she said’, a poetic exploration of extraordinary poetesses, Maria Portela Larisch and Jou-an Chen join forces again. ‘Amor, Sol, Saudade - Zuidzang’ is an ‘invitation au voyage’ in which the call of the south resounds.
Introducing: Madeline Saputra and Apollon Kalamenios
In January, soprano Madeline Saputra and pianist Apollon Kalamenios were one of four song duos accepted after auditioning. ‘Vrienden van het Lied is a platform on which we can experiment and offers us opportunities to build our career as a young song duo.’
Federica Stevanato
De Italiaanse pianiste Federica Stevanato is gespecialiseerd in liedrepertoire en opera-coaching. Ze studeert momenteel Liedgestaltung en Opernkorrepetition aan de Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Keulen, waar ze tevens werkzaam is als correpetitor bij de zangklassen.
Sofi Simeonidis
Sofi Simeonidis studied piano, song interpretation and accompaniment in Tbilisi, Detmold and Cologne. She attended numerous master classes, winning numerous prizes and scholarships. Her passion for music and literature led her to singing and poetry, from classical to contemporary. She forms a duo with Julia Kurig.
Wouter Munsterman
Wouter Munsterman has a great love of song and focused on chamber music and accompanying singers during and after his studies. Since 2007, he has been a repetiteur at the vocal department of ArtEZ Conservatoire in Zwolle.
Julia Mikhailova
Julia Mikhailova studeerde cum laude af aan het het Tsjaikovski Conservatorium in Moskou en wijdt zich sindsdien aan het kunstlied.
Laurens de Man
Laurens de Man studied piano, organ and minor harpsichord with Jacques van Oortmerssen, David Kuyken and Johan Hofmann at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2024, he was the first organist to receive the Dutch Music Prize. He forms a duo with mezzo-soprano Eline Welle.
Michelle Lynne
Canadian pianist Michelle Lynne is a much sought-after chamber musician, pianist and teacher. She performs regularly in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland. She has won several prizes in international piano competitions and her performances are praised for their emotional depth and technical virtuosity.
Christina Koti
Greek pianist Christina Maria Koti studied in London and Paris. She performs frequently with her duo partner baritone Jared Michaud, with whom she also won several awards.
Apollon Kalamenios
Apollon Kalamenios had a great passion for music from an early age and aspired to become an all-round musician. He developed his musical skills by studying piano and violin as well as composition. He is currently studying piano with David Kuyken and composition with Richard Ayres at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He forms a duo with soprano Madeline Saputra.
Jacobus den Herder
Jacobus den Herder studied at the conservatories of Zwolle and Amsterdam and completed his studies with David Kuyken and Willem Brons in 2011. He performs regularly with mezzo-soprano Rosanne van Sandwijk and baritone Jan-Willem Baljet.
Marie François
Marie François is a versatile pianist with performances across Europe and the US. She has already released several CDs, and is making a podcast about the creation process of her CD of Chopin's Nocturnes. She forms a duo with Kelly Poukens.
Willem van den Dool
Willem van den Dool is een veelzijdig pianist met een grote liefde voor kamermuziek en het lied. Recent maakte hij zijn debuut met orkest met het pianoconcert van Clara Schumann.
Babette Craens
Babette Craens grew up in a musical family and received piano and cello lessons from a very young age. She obtained her bachelor and master piano both with highest distinction, is laureate of several piano competitions and has been heard at prestigious festivals. She forms a duo with Fleur Strijbos.
Jou-an Chen
Jou-an Chen studied in Taiwan, Paris and Cologne. Besides giving solo concerts, she has a love for song. She forms a duo with soprano Maria Portela Larisch.
Amy Chang
Amy Chang masters a versatile repertoire. As a coach and répétiteur, she has mastered a wide range of vocal styles, from Baroque operas to contemporary song art and musical theatre. Together with a number of young singers, she has won several awards, including the Friends of Song Engagement Award with Elenora Hu in 2023.
Jared Michaud
Jared Andrew Michaud is an emerging American baritone recognised internationally for his interpretation of the art song.
Anna Alvizou
Greek pianist Anna Alvizou specialised in the song genre. In 2022, she received the special prize for ‘best song pianist’ at the international Triomphe de l'Art competition in Brussels. She forms a song duo with soprano Jessica Harper.
Eline Welle
Eline Welle studied classical piano and voice at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. During her master studies, she attended the International Song Masterclass by Christianne Stotijn in Brussels. She forms a song duo with pianist Laurens de Man.
Jasperina Verheij
Jasperina Verheij is een veelzijdig musicus met een brede interesse in muziek, wetenschap, dans en andere kunstvormen. En studeerde behalve zang blokfluit aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium en Life Science & Technology aan de universiteiten van Leiden en Delft.
Julie Phan
Julie Phan heeft een grote passie voor het kunstlied. Ze werkt nauw samen met met pianist Julia Mikhailova met wie ze een bijzondere interesse voor nieuw repertoire deelt.
Julia Kurig Yazaki
Julia Kurig Yazaki discovered her curiosity and affinity for art songs at an early age. She also developed a special love for lesser-known repertoire and composers and gave several recitals featuring works by female composers and Japanese art songs from the 19th century. She forms a duo with Sofi Simeonidis.
Lana Sophie Westendorf
Sopraan Lana Sophie Westendorf volgt sinds oktober 2024 een masteropleiding Muziektheater bij Lioba Braun aan de Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Daarvoor behaalde zij haar Bachelor zang aan de Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, waar zij studeerde in de klas van Sabine Ritterbusch.
Fleur Strijbos
Fleur Strijbos has a deep-rooted passion for song since she attended Lucienne Van Deyck and Jozef De Beenhouwer's song class. Since 2022, she has formed a duo with Babette Craens with whom she was selected for the ‘Udo Reinemann Masterclasses 2022-2023’.
Madeline Saputra
Indonesian soprano Madeline Saputra studied classical singing at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She has been singing songs, operas and oratorios from classical to contemporary genres since 2020. She forms a duo with pianist Apollon Kalamenios.
Maria Portela Larisch
Maria Portela Larisch began her musical training at the choir academy of La Monnaie in Brussels and then studied at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. She is co-founder of the trio Gilu and forms a duo with pianist Jou-an Chen.
Kelly Poukens
Kelly Poukens is considered an extraordinary soprano with a warm, rich voice. She enjoys working interdisciplinary and has a great love of song. She forms a duo with pianist Marie François.
Elenora Hu
Elenora Hu is an alumna of De Nationale Opera Studio in Amsterdam and has won an impressive string of awards. She has since performed a wide variety of roles and has a great love of song.
Valerie Haunz
Soprano Valerie Haunz is a much sought-after song and concert singer. She won first prize at the Isenbügel Music Competition in the song duo category. Together with pianist Sofi Simeonidis - with whom she has formed a duo since 2022 - she won first prize and a recital in a Paris concert hall at the International Student LiedDuo Competition in 2024.
Jessica Harper
Australian soprano Jessica Harper graduated summa cum laude from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp in 2022. She won first or second place or finished as a finalist in every major Australian singing competition. She forms a song duo with pianist Anna Alvizou with whom she won the prize for the best interpretation of the obligatory work Sensation (Martin Fondse) at the Young Artist Platform of International Song Festival Zeist in 2023.
